A UL-approved ABC (2:A, 10:BC) rated extinguisher is standard for home use.

 ABC is a multi-purpose dry chemical useful for –
Class A fires = combustibles such as wood, cloth and plastics 
Class B fires = flammable liquids 
Class C fires = energized electrical equipment 

 Yes – per NFPA 10 and AHJ’s (authority having jurisdiction) and done by a certified person 

Yes – per manufacturers’ service manual and NFPA 10. Depending on type of extinguisher, internal examination on 1-6 year intervals and 5 to 12 year intervals for hydrostatic test. 

NFPA 72 for many years has required at minimum smoke alarms be installed inside every sleeping room (even for existing homes) outside each sleeping area and on every level of home. 

At a minimum on each level of home. Also in bedrooms with fuel burning appliance, near but not in attached garages, also not within 10ft of a fuel burning appliance. 

Yes – per NFPA 101 and 70, OSHA 29CFR1910. Annually a 90 minute test and a monthly 30 second test with documentation of test and maintenance to be kept for an OSHA or AHJ (authority having jurisdiction) future inspection.
